Typical Shanghai story

Typical Shanghai story

Posted June 22nd, 2008 by debritz

Hours before flying back to Australia for a quick visit, I decided I needed to buy some presents. I dashed to the nearby market, which sells all sorts of things at ridiculously affordable prices and is always full of price-conscious locals. Problem is, it's not there any more - there's just the shell of a building with a guard outside. So, I ended up at the rip-off copy market trying to bargain my way into a reasonable deal. I managed to get them down to about 33 per cent of asking price is just about every instance, but I know they are still making huge profits.
