No more, Mr Music

I went to a pub with some colleagues after work on Friday, and we had difficulty chatting because of a very loud and not especially good covers singer-guitarist. As we looked around the place, we noted that nobody seemed especially interested in the music or the singer. I'm very supportive of live music - but like everything else in life, it has its time and place. Here was a pub that would have been full at 5.30pm on a Friday anyway, with people who simply wanted to deconstruct their working week. The bottom line is that the management could have saved whatever they paid the muso and possibly have taken more across the bar by not having the live music at that time.

A crazy solution to this. TGIF Karaoke! Would karaoke be the solution to the muso's bland gig? Or is it that all the good showbands are always performing in the suburbs?
