No, it's not a football team, it's an initiative to officially launch digital radio across Australia. Listen to the following mp3, which is the 612ABC version of a promotional advertisement that will be played across all Brisbane stations, and see (hear) if you can identify the voices:

You can put the faces to the voices at Reddacliff Place , opposite the Treasury Casino at the top of Queen Street on Thursday, August 6. I'll be there and on the air about 6.20am with Spencer Howson in a panel discussion about the new digital technology.

Expanding disclosures...

So Brett, ABC Brisbane's your first stop. As long as everyone who goes to this gets a digital radio, it will be a success.

I actually thought it would have been easier to hold the broadcast at the EKKA, as a drawcard for the first day of the show, I guess Digital Radio Australia goofed...

Now if only they can reduce the size of a digital radio, from the big boxes we have now, down to pocket size.

It's not just the size
It's not just the size that has to come down, Kuttsy, it's the price - and they both will. Not too many people will be willing to pay $300, as I did, for a new radio - even though it does has more stations. As for having it at the Ekka, at least it will be free for people to go and have a look at the radio stars in the CBD.

As for the football game:

Great idea.

Imagine Jamie Dunn coming up against Rod Young in a game of footy.

In other words, a Radio V TV league match. I think it would sell out Suncorp?
