Stan Zemanek signs off

It's the end of a radio era in Sydney, with Stan Zemanek hanging up his headphones to concentrate on his health battle against a brain tumour. Zemanek has always been a controversial figure, but my experience of him was a pleasant one. When I interviewed him for my radio column in The Courier-Mail about eight years ago, he was polite, unassuming and thoughtful. Quite the opposite to his on-air persona, in fact.
